Hacienda Santa Lucia according to historical data was founded in 1630, in the ancient village that today has its name, Santa Lucia, whose first signs date from the year 1545 that it was known as Nochistanejo.

It was one of the biggest Haciendas in Jalisco, its extension is 24,000 hectares, its flowering was great, in there they produced corn, wheat, barley, maguey, also it counted with an opal mine, soldering iron, coal etc. It had also a mezcal factory “La Taberna” a beautiful building that can still be appreciated.

During the XVII century the Chapel is built, a beautiful enclosure, inside which you can see old Spanish altarpieces, as well as images of Saints brought from Italy, such is the case of the image of Saint Lucia venerated in this Chapel and that gives its name to the Treasury itself. Today the hacienda still has a large area of ​​land.
